With less than two weeks until the season opener, I can hardly contain my excitement . The 2023 Formula 1 season is shaping up to be an exciting one, with all ten teams having launched their cars for the new year. With great liveries and some not-so-great ones, it’s clear that the teams are aiming for a strong start to the season. Season testing starts Feb 23rd in Sakhir.
As we gear up for the first race of the season, the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 5th, drivers and team principles are expressing their optimism and excitement for what lies ahead. The messages from most teams pretty much the same because the season is long and there are challenges that can only be overcame on the track so although the cars all look fantastic, the true test is on the track.
Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team’s team principal, Toto Wolff, shared his excitement for the new season, saying “We had a lot of work to do, but we are excited for the challenges that the new season will bring. Our team has been working hard over the winter break to prepare for the new regulations, and we are confident that we have a competitive car.” Mercedes went back to black white saves about 4kg of paint tat they don’t have to worry about and on an F1 car, 4kg less equals to a lot more power. For a photographer, unless it’s a perfect sunny day this car will just disappear.
Red Bull Racing’s Christian Horner also expressed his optimism for the upcoming season, stating . We are determined to win the championship this year, and we believe we have what it takes to do so.”
Ferrari’s team principal, Mattia Binotto, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s progress, stating “We have made significant improvements to our car, and we believe that we will be competitive this season. Our focus is on delivering the best possible results for our fans and for the team.”
Alpine F1 Team’s executive director, Marcin Budkowski, expressed his enthusiasm for the new season, stating “Our goal is to build on the success of last year and deliver even better results for our fans.” Team principal Otmar Szafnauer said “It seems like the winters are getting shorter and the racing seasons are getting longer, but i like it”. Driver Pierre Gasly (10) joined Alpine from Alpha Tauri, a French team and coming together with his long time friend of 20+ years Esteban Ocon (31), they are very exited to be working on the same team a home team, a French team. It must bring them both great comfort and joy and pride in the coming season.
